Incheon Korea
Bio clock says it’s 1am, Apple Watch says it’s 6pm.
Really a boring day. Got out of the Not Raddison hotel and to the airport. Dropped off my bag at the appointed place and quickly oozed through TSA and to the boarding gate.
Had a sit down breakfast. Couple eggs, toast, hash browns and Avocado in lieu of bacon for under 20 bucks. I didn’t think that was too bad for airport prices.
I had planned the trip around USA and Japan, which both use 110v and the same electrical outlet. I didn’t take into consideration that Korea might be different, and they are. 220v and two round wires for the holes in the wall. I left probably half a dozen adapters at home. Could I find such a thing at the sundry store at the airport. No, Sir-ee. I hope the hotel has one laying around I can borrow.
The plane is kind of light today. Maybe 2/3 full, quite unlike any of the previous flights in memory that are packed cheek to jowl. So boarding was quick and easy.
The only thing of note was some guy one aisle over thought either he had a window seat, or someone was double booked into the seat he thought he had. Well he whined and complained for 10 minutes with the flight attendant. Neither of them budging, but the flight attendant won out in the end, and he was forced to take an aisle seat. If he was expecting to use the wall as a support to sleep, he was probably justified in complaining. If he wanted to view out the window well that was quashed as soon as we got in the air. The cabin crew had everyone lower their windows shades so we would all go to sleep and not bother them for the ensuing 12 hours.
I did sneak a few shots of Alaska over Kodiak Island.
The flight got in about the right time into Incheon and Immigration was quick and easy. My bag decided to go on the same vacation as I did, which is always a concern. Found a taxi, and the phone showed the driver where I wanted to go and he followed Google maps and got to the hotel. In most countries I have been to that don’t use the same alphabet as Europe and the west at least have the freeway exits in both local and western. Not Korea. If you don’t have Google maps or can’t read Korean, you are guaranteed to be lost in translation.
The hotel is a big hotel with all the warmth and charm of an iceberg. But the room is adequate and lucky for me it does have at least one outlet that I can plug things into. Again the language problem. The controls to the air and heat controller are all in Korean and so worn that my camera can’t read them for Google translate to decipher. I think I figured it out, but a lot of trial and error got me to that point.
Think I’ll take a shower and see if there is any English spoken on the television and if not, a book until my eyes shut down sounds in order
